Global Warming Worries Over

June 11, 2009

These enormous eruptions can spew enough sunlight-blocking ash into the atmosphere to cool the climate by several degrees Celsius.

Here.

We just need to figure out a way to trigger the eruption at the right time.

Who’s this guy?

Can someone tell me this guy’s name?

spider on Leucanthemum vulgare
white crab spider on Leucanthemum vulgare

We found him lying in wait in a patch of Margariten. He ambushed a beetle, a Rothalsbock (Leptura rubra) while we were watching, but I wasn’t quick enough with the camera. The beetle got away.

Update: Best guess so far after googling is misumena vatia, (Order: Araneae, Family: Thomisidae) or a white crab spider (wei├če Krabbenspinne). This one is missing the variable red markings on the side. They can also change color to yellow by producing pigments in the outer layer of cells. This change takes up to 25 days. They can also change color back to white in about six days. (source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misumena_vatia)
